Handler of the Year
Handler of the year
goes to Gene Byrd for all the time and effort he puts into helping anyone
who asks for advice, and for those who dont. Even with trying to train
three dogs of his own, he is always willing to give his time to help you
train your dog, and he does it with a smile. Gene does a lot of things for
the retriever world that most people dont know about, for example, he was
on the Board to try to find ways to make the Master National run smoother.
He has been an AKC Judge for a number of years, and takes time away from
testing his own dogs, so that we can test ours. Most people like Gene dont
get recognized until they are gone, but we didnt want that to happen to
Gene. For all his good acts and unselfishness toward our sport, Keystone
recognized Gene with a lifetime membership award. Please congratulate Gene
the next time you see him.
